About BSE Sensex 30
The S&P BSE Sensex, also called the BSE 30 or simply the Sensex, is a free-float market-weighted stock market index of 30 well-established and financially sound companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange. First compiled in 1986, the Sensex is the oldest stock index in India. The index represents 13 sectors of the Indian economy and is widely used as a barometer of the Indian stock market and the Indian economy.
